Manufacturing of a Calibrator for the Monorail Concrete Structure of the New Administrative Capital of Egypt
A monorail is a new railway in which the track consists of a single rail or a concrete beam. The monorail shall connect several vital locations in Cairo Governorate to the new Administrative Capital. A group of undergrad students led by mechanical design engineers in the Product Design Laboratory in the Center for Sound, Vibration and Smart Structures, could design and manufacture a calibrator for the quality assurance of the concrete beam of the monorail. Using the facilities developed through the BEMT project, the calibrator could be made with a high level of accuracy which provided a good chance for the students to learn and use the conventional machines in the lab.
